TAMBOUR BATTANT

Ben Stoker and Cobaa are trained drummers who started out in the rave scene in France. Since the early 2000s, they have formed Tambour Battant, a production duo. They compose, arrange, mix, and master all of their tracks themselves, but they don't shy away from any production method. Tambour Battant has just released their 7th album, with influences ranging from Afrobeats to Amapiano and bass music. The tempo sometimes slows down, but the music on "Welcome" is always made for dancing. Another opportunity to conduct an interview.

Welcome, a glass of?

Fresh sparkling water with a slice of lemon or a good Ipa craft beer in the evening.

Could you tell me about your first experience with Djing?

We started with composition and live electronics. We really wanted to make our own records before playing others. We got into Djing later, from memory around 2011 or so.

Can you explain the new artistic direction of “Welcome” Lp?

Welcome is merging a wide range of influences while solidifying the signature sound of Tambour Battant. A fresh cocktail with Electro, Amapiano and Hip Hop.

Your top 3 songs of “Welcome” Lp and why?

1_“Cure" featuring Marina P, because it’s a celebration of diverse cultural influences. An unclassifiable track in which the soulful voice of Marina and log drums bass with a 90’s clubbing vibe.

2_"Love Station" (Choo Choo)

This track  showcases a new techno-oriented side with an amapiano touch.

We blend sounds reminiscent of train mechanics with driving rhythms and captivating vocals, evoking the relentless motion. Choo Choooooo.

3_"Chamapiano" featuring Grems this track is an alliance unexplored,  with a combination of Amapiano and French Grime and Grems is Long-time friend and collaborator he also signs all the DA for the new album. (Clip video below)
